Plan a visit / a little structure
A plan with
breathing room.
Choose a length and a shared activity. Get a three-part plan with time to settle in, do one thing together and wind down. You can change or abandon it at any point.
Your afternoon, loosely arranged
A 60-minute photo-story visit
- 0–10 min / Settle in
Say hello, get comfortable and ask whether the activity sounds enjoyable today.
- 10–50 min / One photograph, one conversation
Let the photograph’s owner choose a picture and follow the story they want to tell. Use extra time for conversation or a pause; there is no need to talk for the full block.
- 50–60 min / Wind down
Ask what they enjoyed. Agree whether any notes may be kept and leave the next visit open.
Before you arrive
- Check the time suits both of you and confirm any travel or access arrangements.
- Ask about the activity instead of bringing an unexpected project that requires a lot of effort.
- Bring only the materials you agreed on. Familiar things may work better than new equipment.
- Leave time to put things away and say goodbye without rushing the ending.
